Dad

I know it’s been a long time. It has been a very long year at this point. New Years was great. I played at Beth and Joes party. Joe set off 16,000 that’s right 16,000 firecrackers all at one time. All that was needed after that was a laser light show. I left the next day for Belfast Ireland. It was my Christmas present to Martha for her birthday. We stayed with two great friends and I must say it was the best vacation ever. We both loved Ireland and will go back soon. We figured out while we were there that we have been together for 33 years. That’s a long time in this day and age. I could not have picked a better person to be with. Anyway……When we got home my dad had an accident and had to go to the hospital. He passed away a week later. I am still trying to deal with the loss. Martha thinks it has all been building up since my sister and mother passed away 2 years ago. It could be. The support of my friends and the ones that didn’t know my father has been a great comfort. I will never be able to thank them. A week after he passed away a young girl came up to me at Doc’s. She had been one of his nurses in the hospital. She didn’t know he had passed. She was there because he had told her how much he cared about me and she wanted to meet me. Its things like that I will always remember. Anyway…… I have had acute bronchitis twice in the pass month. Life goes on. Summer is looking good. Getting a lot of calls from young brides to be, and the season at Tybee is shaping up to be a big one. I will stop teaching guitar at the end of March. I have too much to do with my Fathers house and will need the time before the summer hits hard. I will try to keep this updated . NOT

Money Money Money

Tis the season to make money. Fa La La LA -- LA LA LA. Very busy this time of year, which is good because everything will slow down at the first of the year. It looks like I might not be working New Years. It will be the first time in about 10 years. I think I have only missed playing on New Years twice in 35 years. It will be strange but something might come up. Who knows? I don’t think my father is dealing well with the holidays. I don’t really blame him and if he wants to stay home that is okay with me. Sometimes I wish I could stay home. I am still having some problems with my thumb. It is numb on the side. The doctor said that should go away. What does he know? Bye Bye

Blah Blah Blah

Not much happening. It is starting to get busy for the holidays. A lot of private parties. Everyone wants to have a party on December 2nd. I am trying to get my father to move in with me. I think he will give in by the end of the year. I am looking forward to it. I like the thought of him being here with me. He has lived in the same place for over 50 years and I know it is a hard decision for him. It is for the best. See Yah

Well Well Well

Tonight I won the "Best Musician On Tybee" award for 2006 at the Tybee Breeze Awards. This past weekend I went to Florida for my aunts funeral. It's that Ying & Yang thing. It was nice to win this year. I feel like last year I won because I took over Charlies job at Doc's, but this year I feel like people realized what I can do. I by no means feel I am the best musician on the island, and I am still grateful for the loyal support from everyone. I wasn't going to the awards because of the location. It was at Fannies and me and the owner had a dispute a few years ago. I don't believe in closing doors, but I slammed this one shut and turned the deadbolt. Anyway...... My good friend Conga Dave told me that it wasn't about me or her it was about the people who support me and voted for me. Dave was right. I went. It stunned some people on Tybee but I went. My aunts passing was sad. She was the last of her siblings. My mothers younger sister. It's a generation gone. I saw many cousins who do not have a clue who I am or my relation to them. That's okay. I don't know who they are. Anyway.... Well Well Well

Man what a month

I have been slow about keeping this up to date. It has been a busy month. I played the Tybee Island Pirate Fest which was fun. I saw Eric Clapton with Derek Trucks in concert which was amazing. My aunt died this week which is sad. She was the last of my mothers siblings so it is a generation gone. The funeral is this weekend so I will be out of Doc's. I have been out a lot this month. My friend Danny had surgery on both his feet and is doing well. It is getting colder so that means I can't go fishing everyday. I hate cold weather. I guess I can start writing more songs. I have an idea for a Tybee blues album. "I Got Them Low Tide Blues" "I Got Sand In My Shorts From Lovin You To Long" you get the idea. This is what happens when you have a lot of FREE time. PREPARE FOR DARKNESS

Hello – My intention with this Blog was to update every week. You can see how that has gone. Anyway………… A lot has happened. My hand is good. A little stiff but good. The CD is doing well and I am getting a lot of positive feed back. They will play some cuts on the local radio station this Sunday at 8:00 pm WRHQ 105.3. I am playing the Tybee Pirates Fest this Sunday afternoon and that should be fun.
On a darker note.
I do not know how many of you follow the writings of Nostradamus, if you don’t then get ready. One of his final predictions came true this week. If you have Comcast cable you can now get Karaoke on Demand. He predicted this hundreds of years ago and now it has come to past. PREPARE FOR DARKNESS. I have begun digging a hole to crawl in.
On a nicer note. This is a picture of Martha at Coki Beach in the Virgin Islands. We did see one virgin while we were there but as we were sneaking up I stepped on a branch and the noise made her run off into the woods.Bye Bye - Roy

My Hand

I had surgery this AM on my hand. It went well. It is very sore right now and I am in between pain killers as I write this. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes from all of you. I will be out of commission for two weeks. I really don't know what to do. My hand is wrapped up like a softball and I hope to get this off on Friday. We will take a vacation next week and then back to Doc's. My first week with the CD has gone well. I have had a lot of positive comments and I am getting better about trying to sell it to people. My friend Henry said I should play it during my breaks and he is right. I am happy with the way it sounds, so I should not be afraid to let people listen to it. Any time you create something it becomes personal and I have a hard time putting that out in front of me. Anyway that's all I can say for now. Thanks
